The BNS Social Studies "Life Experiences" Program
The BNS Social Studies "Life Experiences" Program was established in 2001 by Ms. Virk-Sull and Mr. Sokugawa. With the guidance of Ms. Redmond, the first trip was to Italy. During the eight day trip to Italy, visited Rome and Florence. We also had the opportunity to visit Pisa's Leaning Tower as well as the ancient city of Pompeii.
The purpose of the Social Studies "Life Experiences" Program is to provide Burnaby North students with amazing educational opportunities that are safe and supervised. This is an opportunity of a life time for many students and we strive to make it as relevant, educational, and memorable as possible. The trips are intended to enhance the curricular areas covered by the teachings of Social Studies. Past participants of our program have often told us that they have returned to Europe after graduation to further explore the countries we visited. Also, we have had many siblings and cousins of past participants travel with our program. Without parent support, we would not have the opportunity to have the most successful travel program at Burnaby North Secondary.
Since 2001, we have had several trips to Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece. We've also traveled to France, Austria, Monaco, Turkey, Morocco, and Egypt. Most of our trips are to the European Continent and as a result, our trips are often referred by our students as "EUROtrips".
2014 will be the 11th time that Mr. Sokugawa will be taking students to Europe. Along with Mr. Sokugawa, Ms. Carey will be participating on her 4th trip with students. Joining our team for our trip will be Mr. Salatellis as well as Mr. Lekakis who has participated on several trips. if you have any questions regarding our travel program, please fill out the form below.
